An abacus is a counting and calculation tool used for centuries to perform arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It consists of a frame with beads that slide along rods to represent numbers. By manipulating the beads, one can perform calculations quickly and accurately without a calculator. It also helps develop mental math skills, improve concentration, and enhance cognitive functioning.
The abacus is a whole brain development program that activates both left and right hemispheres of a child's brain, promoting holistic cognitive development. This course is designed for children aged 5–11 years (starting age) because the brain develops rapidly during this range. However, children of any age can benefit if they have an interest in math and want to improve their mental math skills.
Yes! Jr Abacus (Number Ninjas) is an innovative name given by Aadharsheela to make the program more engaging for young children. It's a junior-level program designed for children between 4+ and 5 years old, introducing them to Numbers, Missing Numbers, Before/After Numbers, Even/Odd Numbers, and the basics of Abacus Parts through interactive activities.
Not at all. The abacus is a powerful tool that uses both physical and mental math techniques to solve arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately. It actually complements school math by simplifying complex concepts, improving concentration and memory, and making math more accessible and enjoyable for students.
Mental math is a technique used in abacus calculations that allows individuals to perform arithmetic operations mentally, without pen, paper, or calculator. Through abacus training, children learn to visualize the abacus in their mind, developing concentration, memory, and problem-solving abilities for quick and accurate calculations.
There are 8 levels in Abacus (3 months each). On completion of the 4th or 5th Level of Abacus, students can start Vedic Math, as Abacus is very helpful for Vedic Math students. There are 4 levels in Vedic Math (3 months each).
Students need to do daily practice of just 15–20 minutes. This consistent practice is key to developing speed and accuracy in mental calculations.
Two classes per week — this is the worldwide standard structure for abacus and vedic math. For the remaining 5 days, daily practice is required on worksheets or through our online practice portal.
